City of Santa Barbara Job Opening for Consulting Services for City-Sponsored Special Events
The City of Santa Barbara is a full-service city serving approximately 92,000 residents. Each year, Santa Barbara hosts hundreds of commercial, non-profit sponsored and city-sponsored special events, including athletic; sporting; commercial; community and cultural events; parades; festivals and concerts; block parties; and first amendment events in City parks, beaches, and the public right of way. Besides being fun, well-managed special events offer a host of economic and social benefits to communities; however, by their nature, special events require significant planning, review, and permitting from multiple City departments and other governmental agencies to ensure proper use of City property and adequate planning for safe conduct of the activity, meet local and state guidelines, and ensure the general health and safety of the attendees and/or the public.
The City seeks proposals from experienced and qualified consultants to work in coordination with City staff as an intermediary/liaison between the City and each City-Sponsored non-profit organization grant recipient (Recipient) to assist coordination of the successful planning, permitting, and safe delivery of four city-sponsored special events, Juneteenth, Summer Solstice, Fiesta, and the Milpas Holiday Parade.
